PRC authorities can extend overdue visas to foreigners

Legal stay in China of foreigners can be extended after the expiration of the visa and the expiration of its automatic two-month extension. This issue is considered by the Chinese authorities, said on April 23 the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou Victor Pashkov. The problem of extending visas has been linked to tight sanitary controls due to the coronavirus pandemic, border closures and the de facto lack of air links to Russia. Such difficulties arose, including among Russian citizens in the PRC. On this occasion, the Vice-Governor of [Guangdong Province] Zhang Xin promised that he would contact the competent authorities, recognizing that an answer to this question was necessary, said Paskov TASS. According to the news agency, China has previously introduced an automatic extension of the visa for foreigners who cannot leave the country.
