Swedish officials do not trust residents of the country - poll
Leaders and officials working in Sweden's municipalities have low confidence in locals. This is shown by a study from the University of Erebru, which was attended by 1,500 civil servants at different levels in Swedish municipalities. This was reported by the Swedish news service Sveriges Radio on April 14. According to Martin Carlsson, who is an assistant professor of political science, the managers interviewed during their conversation with journalists stated that they felt little that they could quite trust their citizens, not their personal interests. This attitude of officials towards ordinary people is formed, despite the fact that many of them work at the grass-roots level in municipalities. According to the idea, they should be closer to their voters, but the short interviews conducted by journalists with the authorities showed the opposite. Less than 1% of municipal managers in the public area of responsibility replied that they were willing to report anonymously to Swedish media representatives any shortcomings in their municipalities. At the same time, 15% of the officials surveyed said that they are ready to resign.
