Residence of ex-President of Mexico converted into observatory for doctors


The building of the former presidential residence Los Pinos has been converted to an observatory to accommodate medical workers there fighting coronavirus infection, according to Reuters. The building currently houses 58 doctors and nurses, but the residence can accommodate up to 100 people. It's a place that was built for civil servants. Doctors and nurses of civil servants risking their lives, saving the lives of other people, were led by the head of social protection of Mexico Zoe Robledo. Meals, as well as laundry and cleaning services, are provided for medical workers living in the residence. Doctors are also taken by special buses to hospitals and back to eliminate the risk of infection on the way to the medical institution. According to the news agency, by 7 May, the number of confirmed cases of new type coronavirus infection in Mexico had reached 27,634. From diseases caused by SARS-CoV -2, 2,704 people died in the country.
