Lenders will give another $100 million to support the budget of Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz authorities plan to receive from international donors an additional $116 million (8.17 billion rubles) to support the budget of the republic, the deficit of which has grown significantly due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was announced today, July 2, at a briefing by Finance Minister Baktygul Zheenbaeva. According to her, this amount will have to include $16 million (1.13 billion rubles) in grant funds from the European Union and $100 million (7.04 billion rubles) from the Eurasian Stabilization Fund, which will be provided in the form of a loan at 1% per annum for 20 years, of which 10 years are a grace period. Also, a senior official said that the total amount of money allocated by international donors to support the budget of Kyrgyzstan currently exceeds $408 million (28.74 billion), of which $366 million (25.78 billion rubles) are loans, and the rest are grant funds. At the same time, the deputy minister noted that so far only $291 million (about 20.5 billion rubles) has come from the International Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank.
