Sweden cannot agree on migration policy bill - SR

It is no longer possible to come to an agreement on the foundations of a future migration policy in the Riksdag without considering the government bill. This is the opinion of Maria Malmer Stenergard, representative of the Moderate Coalition Party on Migration Policy. This was announced on August 4 by the Sveriges Radio news service. Currently, in Sweden, the two ruling parties, the Social Democrats and the Greens, who formed the red-green coalition government, diverge in their views on what future migration policies should look like. The proposed government bill was mainly an initiative of the Social Democrats, so the Greens will abstain during the vote. In order not to risk the collapse of the government, this spring the Social Democrats entered into negotiations with moderates in order to adopt the necessary changes to migration legislation not in the form of a government bill. However, negotiations behind their backs did not tolerate the Greens, who threatened to leave the government if negotiations continued. As a result, the Social Democrats stopped cultural conversations with moderates. For his part, the moderate representative Stenergard believes that the train has already left. Thus, future changes will be put to a vote in the form of a government bill, and not a bill of parliamentarians.
