More than 1.7 thousand refugees detained in Turkey over the past week
Turkey's law enforcement agencies arrested 1,000 773 illegal migrants over the past week. This is reported by Anadolu Ajansi on February 17. According to journalists, most of the refugees were detained in Edirne Province, located on the border with Greece and Bulgaria, it is these countries that want to move illegal immigrants to then enter the more developed countries of the European Union. All detainees were taken to specialized services where their extradition will be decided. Turkey is a convenient transit point for refugees from the Middle East trying to escape internal conflicts in their countries. In 2015, Ankara concluded an agreement with Brussels, under which the border for illegal immigrants was closed, which led to a significant reduction in the migration flow to the Commonwealth territory.
