Head of South Korea and Prime Minister of Ireland held a telephone conversation
On 4 May, the head of South Korea held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Ireland, with whom he discussed cooperation in the fight against coronavirus. This is reported by Yonhap News with reference to representatives of the administration of the South Korean president. According to them, the dialogue took place at the request of the Irish side. In a 30-minute conversation, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar praised the South Korean government's efforts to combat the epidemic, noting that Ireland was trying to stick to similar infection control measures as South Korea. He thanked the Government of South Korea for providing coronavirus diagnostic kits, congratulated the successful conduct of the National Assembly elections, and expressed interest in acquiring South Korean medical supplies, including protective masks. In turn Mun Zhe Ying noted that domestic demand and the offer did not manage to be stabilized yet, however the government will do everything possible to help Ireland. He also thanked the Irish Government for supporting Seoul in the process of denuclearization and peace on the Korean peninsula. According to the news agency, in April the President of South Korea exchanged letters with the singer of the Irish rock band U2 and the public figure Bono.
