US citizen Paul Whelan, convicted in Russia of espionage for a long prison term, will serve his sentence in a prison in Mordovia. According to lawyer Vladimir Zherebenkov, thus human rights activists decided to save two to three months that would go to consider the complaint, and begin negotiations and organize the exchange of Whelan for convicted citizens of the Russian Federation in the United States.
